- How long have you been a member of the D-KRL committee?
- Since it was formed in 2015.
- What do you see as the main objectives and priorities of the D-KRL committee as a BID?
- One of the most important things that a BID can do is to make opportunities for businesses to meet and talk together, get to know each other, and share their hassles and successes. A BID also provides a vehicle for businesses to have a collective voice in the wider community, whether in responding to council plans, getting police and agencies involved, or promoting the area.
- What inspired you to start your business?
- The dream to be my own boss, but it was initiated by being made redundant.
- What do you enjoy most about being part of the Kilbirnie, Rongotai, and Lyall Bay community?
- All the people from business owners to home owners to street people. And it is so easy to walk around.
- How do you stay motivated and inspired?
- Meeting new people every week, listening to their hopes and dreams and then working to make their homes better suit their living style.
- What unique qualities do you think Kilbirnie, Rongotai, and Lyall Bay offer to businesses?
- We are a fairly compact business area with a broad range of retail and services covering almost everything you need. People can enjoy life here without having to go into the CBD.
- What changes or improvements would you like to see in Kilbirnie, Rongotai, or Lyall Bay?
- A focal point that will draw people together and give them pride to belong to this community. Also, it is an event that ties together a lot of our fantastic sports facilities and beaches.
