Work on Onepu Road between Rongotai Road and Coutts Street is due to start from Monday 16 September
The work on Onepu Road between Rongotai Road and Coutts Street is due to start from Monday 16 September.
It will involve:
· constructing a new bus stop platform on Onepu Road near the Spice Emporium
· installing rubber bike lane separators and marker poles
· the removal of kerbside parking.
What to expect
Our contractors will be working on both sides of the road next week – installing the northbound bike lane (Woolworths/Countdown side) and working on the bus platform on the other side. There will be a temporary bus stop by the Salvation Army Family Store.
Work on the southbound section of bike lane between Rongotai Road and Coutts Street will also happen over the next few weeks and be completed once the bus stop platform is in place.
There will be a 30km/h speed limit in place for safety reasons, but both traffic lanes on Onepu Road will operate as usual.

Please ensure your vehicle is parked clear of the worksite.
To do this work, we need the site to be clear of vehicles and other obstructions, so parking will be affected. We will do our best to minimise disruption as much as possible but please ensure your vehicle is parked clear of work areas. Areas, where work is going to happen, will be coned off the night before. If your vehicle is parked in one of these areas, please move it. If your vehicle is parked in the way, we may have to tow it to a suitable park nearby. Should your vehicle be moved, please check nearby streets first before ringing the contractor listed on the reverse.
What access will be available during this time?
Traffic management setups will be in place to enable our crew to do this work safely. These will include shoulder closures. This will be accompanied by a reduced speed limit. People on bikes should follow any traffic management guidance. Pedestrian access will still be available, but please follow the directions of our crew when passing through the work site.
Will these road works affect access to my property?
Residents and/or business owners will have access to their property but during some phases of the work, you may experience some delays. In the case of an emergency, essential services will be given priority. If you are expecting a delivery or have a tradesperson needing access, we will navigate them through the work site. Rubbish collection and recycling will continue as usual.
Will there be an impact on bus services?
Bus services will not be impacted by this work and will run as usual. People who normally get on or off the bus at the stop by the Spice Emporium will be able to use a temporary stop by the Salvation Army Family Store.
